Choose who pays the card fee for receivables

Matthew avatar
Shared by Matthew • January 17, 2024

We are thrilled to announce a significant enhancement to your Truss banking experience:

You can now choose who pays the card fee for receivables - you or your customers.

When your customers opt to pay a payment request via card, a card fee of $0.30 + 3.5% of the transaction amount is applied. By default, this fee has been charged to your customer. Now, you have the power to decide who bears this fee:

  • Charge to customers: Continue with the default setting where your customers pay the card fee. No action is required to continue with the default setting.
  • Pay on behalf of customers: Set your company as responsible for any card fees, offering your customers a fee-free payment experience.

As a reminder, we still offer the option for your customers to pay via ACH bank transfer at no cost. This method remains a great alternative for fee-free transactions.

How to set up your preference

  1. Log into your Truss account.
  2. Navigate to the 'Settings' section.
  3. Select 'Payment Portal’ and choose your preference for handling card fees.

You can find detailed instructions on changing the card fee settings in this article.

This update gives you greater control and flexibility, ultimately enhancing your business transactions with Truss.

As always, our team is here to support you. If you have any questions or need assistance setting up this new feature, please email us.

Contacts are now 'Customers' & 'Vendors'

Matthew avatar
Shared by Matthew • December 05, 2023

We're thrilled to share some important updates to Truss. Our team is committed to continuously improving your experience, and these latest enhancements are designed to streamline your financial operations even more effectively.

Here's a quick walk-through video of what's new – or keep reading below.

1. Simplified customer & vendor management

We've revamped the 'Contacts' section! Now, you can easily distinguish between customers and vendors:

  • Customers Tab: All contacts from whom you've requested payments.
  • Vendors Tab: All contacts to whom you've sent payments.

This update requires no action from you. Contacts are automatically categorized based on your previous transactions.

Note: The same contact can appear in both tabs if applicable.

2. Multiple customer email options

To ensure greater flexibility for your customers, you can now add both a primary and secondary email to each customer. This means that payment requests can be accepted and paid by either email recipient.

3. Send payment via Direct Deposit

To enhance the convenience for your vendors, we've introduced a direct deposit feature. You can now effortlessly transfer funds to your vendors' bank accounts by entering their routing information. This streamlined process deposits the money directly into their accounts, eliminating the need for them to accept each payment.

4. Default payment methods for vendors

You now have more control over how you pay your vendors by setting a default payment option. Choose between:

  • Sending payments via email, allowing vendors to select their preferred deposit account
  • Direct bank transfers using routing numbers

5. Comprehensive transaction history

Visit any customer or vendor page to view all associated transactions, providing you with a clear and detailed financial history.

6. Instant payables with verified Truss network

Adding a new vendor? If they're already part of the Truss network, you can quickly select them for instant payables, without having to add additional payment information.

We are excited for you to experience these updates and are confident they will make managing your business finances smoother and more efficient. As always, your feedback is invaluable to us. If you have any questions or need assistance, our support team is here to help.

We are thrilled to announce a series of exciting updates to Truss that will streamline your workflow and make managing your finances even easier.

Here's a quick walk-through video of what's new – or keep reading below.

1. Check Deposits in the Field

Now, users with sales permission have access to the Mobile Check Deposit feature without accessing the bank account information. This powerful addition allows your sales staff to deposit checks wherever they are, whether they're on-site with clients or back at the office.

2. Expenses Page in Dashboard

We have simplified your expense tracking further. You can quickly access all your card transactions under the new 'Expenses' dashboard, displaying the same table as the 'Expenses' tab on your Card Account.

3. Tagging for Expenses

To enhance your expense organization, we have introduced expense tagging. Now, you can add tags to each expense to categorize them, making it easy to sort and track expenses, for example by project.

Note: All users can create tags and update tags on purchases. Only admins and bookkeepers have the authority to delete or update tags in the Settings section.

4. Send Reminders for Missing Receipts

Admins and bookkeepers can now send email reminders to users who have transactions with missing receipts. No more hunting down missing documentation; simply send a gentle nudge to your team members.

5. Streamlined Card Issuing

With our new streamlined card issuing feature, you can now seamlessly invite staff and issue cards to them in a single step.

6. Export Filtered Transactions View

You now have the ability to export specific subsets of your Cash Account transactions. Simply apply your desired filters to display only the transactions you need, and then export them as a CSV file.

7. Updated TOS

In addition to these exciting features, we want to inform you that we have recently revised our Terms of Service (TOS) to align with our current product offerings. We value your trust and are committed to providing you with a secure and reliable platform for managing your finances.
